LORRAINE BROWNE HAIR STYLIST - IRISH WEDDING VENDOR SERIES

Welcome to the 5th week of Irish Wedding Vendor Series. For the month of April and May I am going to interview one vendor once a week from the wedding industry that I am really fond of.  I am going to ask them questions that will give insight into their professional work.

Today I would like to introduce to you Lorraine Browne! She's a Bridal Hair Stylist. I have met Lorraine on one of the shoots. Lorraine struck me as a professional that doesn't need too many words to do the right job. She gets it. She gets the feel and the nature of the style from the overall idea of the given theme!

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A BRIDAL HAIR STYLIST?

I have worked in the hairdressing industry for many years. I started off as a part time Saturday girl whilst still at school. I loved it and stayed with that company for 12 years working up the ranks from a stylist to creative director and salon manager. Then I moved to Ireland and worked in Dylan Bradshaw's amazing Salon in Dublin city centre. I moved on to be a technical trainer in Wella Proctor and Gamble for 5 years before going out on my own. I worked with a lot of stylist and PR companies. I was involved in fashion shows, TV shows and Magazine shoots. All this time I always loved looking after Bridal Hair so I decided to dedicate my business in that direction. I feel very privileged to be part of someones special day. I love the great venues and amazing gowns I get to see. But most of all I love hearing how people meet and their real life love story!

WHAT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?

I get inspiration from all sorts of places like catwalk collections, magazines, films and celebrities. I love award ceremonies. I believe that a bridal look is a combination of what suits her face shape and dress style. It has to be a unique look for that bride. I think that her wedding should be timeless and she should look the best version of herself and not a passing trend. My trials last 2 hours. They include a consultation by trying different hairstyles and tweaking them until the hair looks just right. After the consultation I would forward on the images we took during the trial so that the bride can consider all the looks and tell me about any changes that she wishes to make for the day.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS TIME?

In 5 years time I hope I'm still doing what I'm doing. I absolutely love my job! I'd like to expand into more training. At the moment I train the art of up-style in salons and make up schools. I'd like to grow my team and expand some services for make up too. At the moment I offer my services for the wedding day and I have a team for a blow-dry/styling bar for guests and in-laws for the day of the wedding and after. I'd love to expand on this as it has become very popular. I'd like to create my own hair accessories line. I'm always chopping, changing and tweaking bridal pieces to fit a style or make them more comfortable to wear. I want to have the perfect range to offer. I adore doing photoshoots it's always a creative buzz! Most of my work is word of mouth. Brides and bridesmaids would recommend me to their friends and family. It's lovely visiting a family for each sibling's wedding and seeing the families grow. A wedding is such a happy day I'm very lucky to have my work day to be a happy day every day!
