Almost all of my couples ask me this question. What is this thing called an Engagement Shoot?(also known as a pre-wedding shoot). Why is it important to have one done?
An Engagement Shoot is a photoshoot for the two of you after you have booked your wedding photographer and is done before your wedding day. A lot of wedding photographers include it in their wedding packages.
There are a few benefits of an Engagement Shoot that you should know about. After I lay these in front of my couples, 99% of the time they agree to committing to the shoot!
1. Professional Photos For Save The Dates
First of all, you will get professional, high quality photographs of the two of you. How often do you get this done? You can use these photos on your 'Save The Date' cards, as part of your guest book on your wedding day, frame them for your house and update your profile photo on Facebook :).
2. Enhancing Your Confidence for a natural and relaxed feel
An Engagement Shoot is a great way to enhance your confidence in front of the camera before your wedding day. I always direct my couples, talk to them and find an individual approach that will help us both create more natural, relaxed and confident looking photographs on your wedding day.
3. Hair And Make Up Trials
Apart from getting to know each other better, you can schedule your hair and make up trials on the same day as your Engagement Shoot. There is no better way to test the trial than have it photographed and looked at form different angles.
Having these in mind, you are gaining experience, fresh photographs of the two of you that you can use in planning your wedding and a clear idea of how your hair and make up will look on the day!
